Math Jeopardy

Math Jeopardy is an activity for a competition day. It is designed to be accomplished in one hour and it is meant to practice math concepts (that the kids have already been exposed to) as well as have a lot of fun! If you are using Math Jeopardy before 5th grade, lesson 17 (probability), then you must use the customizing feature of Math Jeopardy to eliminate that subject from the competition.
Math Jeopardy has competitions at 3 difficulty levels suitable for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders to allow you, the coach, to find a competition suitable for your students' level.

Make sure your students have been instructed in all the problem areas. No new concepts!

Pencil and Paper

A big difference between Math Jeopardy and the TV show is that computation with pencil and paper is often required. Sometimes the answer can be arrived at by just thinking and sometimes a little work is required. Let the students know that working with pencil and paper is not only OK, it is sometimes necessary.
Make sure every student has pencil and paper (but not calculators!) for this competition.
