You should always do the elementary reviews and, if time permits, the advanced review.
Please note: The Math Pak should be handed out to prospective students at least a month prior to the start of classes. They should be expected to complete (or give a good try to) it before first class. Typically, you, the coach, would make a presentation in your school's 4th grade classes at the end of the school year, telling kids about the program and recruiting them for the coming fall program. Students who raise their hands are given a Math Pak and asked to complete it before Math Team starts in September. Parents are encouraged to help their child with these drills. Any students who do not complete this set of drills (or at least give it a try) will be ill prepared for this course and will require remedial help to stay in the program.
Some schools make the Math Pak completion a prerequisite for Math Team participation!
